Airport Operations Internship
Qualified candidates will be pursuing or possess a degree in Aviation Management, Business, or closely related field, with an interest in airport operations.
Upon completion, the individual will have developed the skills necessary to perform at the Operations Specialist position level or equivalent.
This position will attend airport tenant meetings, provide tours to the local community, assist in operations projects, and respond to any operational issues during the shift.
This position will assist with identifying, preventing, and removing all hazards to aviation including FOD, wildlife, AOA incursions, unauthorized vehicle and pedestrian entry, and disabled aircraft. Assist Management and Maintenance in achieving a safe and efficient operating environment during construction projects. Learn how to issue and record NOTAMS. Lastly, participate in any additional projects, tasks or duties as assigned.
Process for Consideration
South Bend International Airport is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Maintenance Worker in our Maintenance Department. This position performs a variety of tasks including maintenance, repairs, alterations and modifications of buildings, equipment and systems, roadways and grounds maintenance, and snow removal using a variety of equipment. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical and/or heavy equipment operation as well as building maintenance.
Experience in carpentry, drywall repair, painting and pavement repair preferred. Must have mechanical ability, be able to use power and hand tools, and be able to perform a variety of general construction and repair tasks.
We require a high school diploma or equivalent with emphasis on technical or shop courses. This is a full-time position that may involve shift work, weekends and holidays as necessary. A valid driver’s license is required. The ability to pass a criminal history and up to 10-year employment background checks is required.
Approved hourly pay rate, $18.32. Rates reflect and are subject to the current collective bargaining agreement.

Information and Communications Center Agent (Part-Time)
The South Bend International Airport is seeking a motivated individual for the position of a Part-Time Information and Communications Center Agent within the Operations Department. This position provides information and customer service to all airport divisions including monitoring airport security systems; disseminating information to the public, employees and airline personnel. In addition, dispatching Safety Officers as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 6-12 months customer service experience requiring public contact. They must also have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and be able to use multi-line telephone systems and general office equipment. The position is regularly scheduled for 24 hours per week, with additional hours required on occasion, and will involve shift work, weekends and holidays.
The approved hourly pay rate is $10.00 per hour. The ability to pass criminal history and up to 10-year employment and background checks is required.

St. Joseph County Airport Authority (SJCAA) is seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking individual for the position of Operations Specialist. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Airport Authority’s mission, vision and values.
The attitudes for these values are multi-directional. They apply in each department in the Authority and in the community.
This position promotes the safety and security of airport users by ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Transportation Security Regulations as well as all other applicable statutes, regulations and requirements. Main duties include monitoring all airside and landside activity, responding to emergent and non-emergent operational issues, airfield condition reporting, and acting as liaison amongst airport management, tenants and the public. All employees are expected to be part of our customer service team as Dedicated Customer Care Specialists.
A Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business administration, or a related field is preferred; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of two years of work experience at a commercial airport. Ability to pass a 10-year background and Criminal History Records Check required. Valid Driver’s License Required.
Weekends, holidays and shift work required. Starting wage is $17.50 per hour.
