Community Outreach

Our community sets the foundation for what we do and who we are.

Each day, we strive to fulfill our mission of serving the traveling public and community through continuous air service development efforts, exceptional customer service, premier facilities and beyond. But we aspire to go even further than that – our goal is to develop a culture of humanitarianism that touches lives and makes where live a better place, one day at a time.

We have implemented impactful programs and events that aim to generate positive changes in our community. This is accomplished by providing the community with knowledge and a deeper understanding of the aviation industry, and by giving back to the people and organizations that help enhance SBN and the world around us.

Bears in the Air

There are three people in the photo, two nurses and the one in the middle is holding a teddy bear. On the other side of the teddy bear is Mike Daigle, CEO. There are bags of bears piled in the foreground of the photo with the background being a hospital lobby.

Bears in the Air is our annual program that raises funds to give newly purchased teddy bears to children in area hospitals, spreading comfort and joy during difficult times. The program also supports community Veterans by donating to the Robert L. Miller Sr. Veteran’s Center in South Bend.

Aviation Education Day

Front shot of a runway at South Bend International Airport. There is a group of people standing on the runway, jumping into the air with their hands and arms raised overhead.

Aviation Education Day is our annual event that is free, fun, and open to the public for people of all ages. It provides the community with an opportunity to learn more about the aviation industry, experience SBN behind the scenes, and enjoy a day of festivities at the airport.

2026 Update: Aviation Education Day is paused for 2026 due to scheduled construction at SBN. We look forward to it returning in the future!
