an exciting update to the passenger experience at South Bend International Airport

A new passenger experience is coming to SBN! This 1.5 year project is focused on passenger safety, improving traffic flow on the front drive, and increasing efficiency as we have reached historic levels of passenger growth over the last several years.

Here's what you can expect to see:

The addition of a commercial transportation lane on the front drive specifically for taxis, Uber and Lyft rideshares, and Transpo busses to reduce congestion
Canopies covering two lanes of the front drive providing shelter from rain and snow
An updated aesthetic that preserves our small town feel while beautifying our front drive

Here's what you need to know during construction:

Short-term parking will be closed during construction
Valet parking is paused due to construction beginning Monday, June 15, 2026
Passengers are advised to arrive two hours prior to departure
Construction will begin on the west side and move eastward in phases
The front drive will remain accessible for dropoffs and pickups
- If you are picking up a passenger, please wait in the cell phone lot for them to arrive
Select terminal and parking lot entrances will be closed at various times
Directional signage will be posted throughout construction
Updates will be shared on this page as the project progresses

If you are departing from SBN, please plan to arrive two hours ahead of your scheduled departure time to allow time to park, get through security and to your gate. Please follow the posted signage on the front drive to enter the parking lot.

If you are arriving at SBN, exit the airport using doors B, C, D, E, F and G. Use the open crosswalk at Door F to enter and exit the parking lot.

If you are picking up a passenger at SBN, please use the cell phone lot to wait for your passenger. When they have arrived, there are two open lanes on the front drive to pick up from. Please follow the posted signage accordingly.

Expected Completion: August 31, 2027*

Entering the Terminal From the Parking Lot

Cross the crosswalk at Door F to enter or exit the terminal from the long-term parking lot.

Doors B, C, D, E, F and G are available for passenger pickup and drop off. Please wait in the cell phone lot for a passenger you are picking up.

Parking is Available in the Long-Term Lot

Due to construction, short-term parking is closed. Valet parking is paused beginning Monday, June 15, 2026. Parking is available in the long-term parking lot. For more information about parking, including parking rates, please visit our parking page.

Wait for Passengers in the Cell Phone Lot

To minimize congestion, waiting is no longer permitted on the front drive. If you are picking up a passenger, follow signage to the cell phone lots. Your passenger should call you to proceed to the front drive when they are ready to be picked up.
