Dallas/Fort Worth

When you combine the neighboring cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, there’s no wonder it’s called a Metroplex. The DFW region of North Texas spans more than 9,000 miles and has a never-ending list of things to do and see. With some of the best barbeque in the country, rodeos all year round, lively sports events and Southern charm at every corner, the DFW area is a must on your travel bucket list.

Have you ever wondered if the phrase, “Everything is Bigger in Texas”, is actually true? With nonstop service twice daily on American Airlines from SBN, you have no reason not to find out for yourself!

Food

For a night on the town or casual lunch, stop by the quirky district of Deep Ellum located near downtown Dallas. A local treasure, this area is well-known for its concerts, unique restaurants and bars, shops, art galleries and street art that makes for the perfect Instagram. Happiest Hour, less than a mile away from where the Dallas Stars and Mavericks play, prides itself on having tasty “Happytizers” and one-of-a-kind cocktails. Happiest Hour truly combines the best of both worlds with rooftop and lounge seating with unbeatable views of the Dallas skyline. Lastly, it would not be a complete trip to Dallas/Fort Worth without a trip to Whataburger. Although technically considered fast food, don’t tell the locals that when you make a stop there. Its classic burger name speaks for itself, and after you try the “Whataburger”, you’ll be calling it gourmet like all Texans do.

Entertainment

From country singers to pop artists and everything in between, the DFW Metroplex prides itself on having a wide array of performances at multiple venues. If concerts aren’t your thing, spend some time at any of the museums or art galleries in town. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, with 11 permanent exhibits along with projects and collections, will surely entertain everyone of all ages for hours on end. The Dallas Museum of Art is also a very worthwhile trip, and boasts a plethora of events, guided tours, and exhibits year round.

Sports

A true sports fan can’t leave Dallas without staying for a night of Dallas Cowboys football at “Jerry World” (otherwise known as AT&T Stadium). This retractable roof stadium makes it a perfect destination no matter what the weather outside may be. Dallas is also home to the Texas Rangers of the MLB, the Dallas Mavericks of the NBA as well as the Dallas Stars of the NHL. Whichever season you visit Dallas in, there is sure to be a game happening for you to see. For the true Dallas sports fans, you can even sign up for tours of the major league stadiums.

Explore Outdoors

If you want to take in the sunny Texas weather, Klyde Warren Park is right in downtown Dallas and sits atop an eight-lane freeway. Opened in 2012, this 5-acre deck park is ideal for a picnic outside or even a break from work in the city. If you plan your trip around lunch, you can enjoy food from one of the many food trucks lining the street. If want to escape the city life without actually leaving the city, you can bike, walk, run, skate, and make your way down the Katy Trail in North Dallas. You can even navigate Katy Trail on a segway with Dallas Segway Tours.

Shopping

If you truly want to see every shop there is to see and then some, make sure to plan your days around a trip to the Galleria Mall. With three floors of shopping and a floor with an ice-skating rink and restaurants, there is certainly no shortage of things to do at this mall. If you’d like to spend more time outside shopping, West Village in Uptown Dallas is a must see. West Village has Spin classes, hotels, events, food and drink, as well as a movie theatre so that everything is conveniently in one place.
